The FerryGateway Standard API has been established as a worldwide standard for communication between Online Agent systems and Ferry Operator Reservation systems since 2015. In addition to this, the FerryGateway Switch has been in production since 2019.
Both have been proven to be robust.
During 2022, member workshops (including Ferry Operators’ technical and commercial staff), Agents and Reservation system providers have contributed their experience to the next version 1.3.0 of the FerryGateway Standard API – thanks to everyone who participated.
The result, the description of FerryGateway Standard API 1.3.0, is now available for you to download for free. Please login at our Web site www.ferrygateway.org and download.
The objective of version 1.3.0 is to implement new market needs and utilize experience of ferry operators and agents gained by previous years of using the FerryGateway Standard.
New amendments in the booking possibilities is for example new functionalities for extending meal services, vehicle extensions and transfer bookings. The amendments will amongst others simplify the agents’ life, allow them to better get information directly via the API and improve and clarify the documentation. This in turn also helps operators because their technical support people will spend less time answering agent’s questions both during onboarding and when some changes to business are implemented.
1.3.0 includes over 20 additions, please note that all additions are not used on all Ferry routes. They can be seen as optional, and all Ferry Operators will not implement all new features. Please talk to each Ferry Operator to know which items that will be implemented and the expected timetable.
Please remember that when you are connected through the FerryGateway Switch there is no need to have the same version in both ends. You can upgrade to 1.3.0 when it suits you but of course both ends must have 1.3.0 to get the new functionality.
