P&O Ferries joins FerryGateway Association

The FerryGateway Association (FGWA) announces that P&O Ferries has joined the Association, further strengthening industry collaboration around a single, open digital communication standard for the ferry sector.

With over 187 years of maritime heritage, P&O Ferries is a trusted leader in providing reliable, innovative and sustainable transport between the UK and Europe. Handling more than £86 billion of trade each year and operating over 300 weekly sailings across eight ports, the company plays a vital role in keeping people and goods moving across key European routes.

Its membership reflects the continued expansion of FerryGateway across major ferry markets and reinforces the importance of an operator‑led approach to digital standardisation.

FGWA is a non‑profit industry body formed by major European ferry operators to own, govern and develop the FerryGateway standard—a common digital interface that standardises how ferry operators connect with travel agents, distributors and commercial partners. The standard is designed to replace fragmented, bespoke and legacy system integrations with a single, open, industry‑controlled solution.

By joining FerryGateway, P&O Ferries becomes part of a collaborative group of ferry operators working together to simplify digital integration, improve commercial distribution and reduce long‑term complexity across the travel value chain. The FerryGateway standard enables agents and partners to access the full ferry product offering—including sailings, passengers, vehicles, cabins and onboard services—through one consistent global API.

Chloe Friend, Chief Information Officer at P&O Ferries, said:

“Joining the FerryGateway Association aligns with our focus on simplifying and strengthening how we connect digitally with our distribution partners. An open, industry‑governed standard helps reduce unnecessary complexity and ensures ferry operators remain in control of how our products are represented and integrated across sales channels.”

As part of DP World’s Marine Services, P&O Ferries is connected to a global network of marine logistics and supply chain expertise, strengthening the support it provides to both freight customers and passengers. This global connectivity further underlines the value of common digital standards that support scalable, efficient and consistent distribution.
